Just The Word: Concordance.

Oh, PLEASE bear with me again because today I am going to show you a new website called Just The Word~ (JTW). As we all know, words are important in our life. It forms a language that we speak and listen. Words in English especially can be confusing especially when it comes to differentiating its functions, form whether it is used as noun, verb, or preposition (just to name a few). However, with the advancement of technology, we are able to do this instantly by using JTW!

JTW is very useful for English learners to know and to improve their knowledge on English grammar. There are two options for this tool, it's either you choose Thesaurus or Learner Errors. There are in facts so many words that can be searched and according to Rocky,T. (2011), there are about 80,000,000 words of the British National Corpus (BNC).

To illustrate some of the examples of how to use the website, I will show you some of the snapshots from the website.

Picture 1: Enter any words or phrase. Here I key in the word "refill". Choose thesaurus and click combinations.

Picture 2: List of concordance from Nouns, Verbs etc. Click to one of the list highlighted in the red box.

Picture 3: There you have, a list of how to construct sentences using the word refill... glass.
